Free Kayak Demo Days!!

Ready to buy, but not sure which one? Come to a demo day and try them all. Our updated demo fleet has all the latest models including kayaks you don’t even need a paddle for! The new Ocean Kayak Torque and Native Kayak Ultimate Volt & Propel are battery or pedal powered and lots of fun! We also provide opportunities to try various paddle and life jacket styles so that your kayak, paddle and PFD are the best fit for you. No reservations needed.

Hawkeye Community College Classes
Hawkeye Community College Waverly Center at 215 20th St. NW (Willow Lawn Mall) offers the following non-credit classes for fall 2010.
Senior Tech Classes
Intro to Computers,
August 31 to September 23 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:am.
Word/Excel 07, October 5 to October 28 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
The cost of each class is $105 and to register call 319-277-2490.
Learning with Lunch - Business & Industry/General Public Focus
Energy Intention in Business and Relationships, (
The way you communicate physically and verbally has an effect on others), October 19 from 11:30am to 1:00pm.  Cost is $30 and lunch will be provided.  To register call 319-277-2490.

Learning with Lunch - Supervisory Series
Supervisors and lead employees can enhance their leadership, customer service, motivation and communication skills.  Classes can be taken as a 5 class series or individually.
Supervisors Job, Monday, September 20 from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
Becoming a Leader, Monday, October 4 from 11:30 am to 1:00pm
Appreciation for Clients, Customers, and Co-workers, October 18 from 11:30am to 1:00pm
Motivation, Monday, November 1 from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
Communication Skills, Monday, November 15 from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

10 Hour OSHA General Industry
Topics covered include OSHAct and General Duty Clause, Inspections, Citations, and General Clause Penalties, Walking/Working Surfaces, Hazardous Materials, Material Handling, and Electrical and Welding Standards. Community Night Celebration
Wartburg College will kick off its celebration of 75 consecutive years in Waverly, and 75 years of football, with a "Community Night" football game Saturday, September 4th, featuring pregame community tailgating and postgame fireworks.  Tickets for the 7:00pm game with Monmouth College of Illinois at Walston-Hoover Stadium will be half-price ($3 adults and $2 students).   The game will be preceded by a tailgate in Regents Park from 5:00 to 7:00pm with food that can be purchased from Hy-Vee grill.

Lunch on the Bridge
Lunch will be sold on the Waverly Rail Trail Bridge on Friday, September 10 from 11:00am to 1:00pm to benefit Cedar Valley Friends of the Family.  Come and enjoy wandering musicians and good food!  Ticket cost is $7.00 per sack lunch and includes a ham or turkey sandwich, an apple, chips, a cookie & pop or water.  Purchase 10 or more lunches and worksite delivery is available (call Melissa at 352-1108 by September 2nd).  Rain location is the Waverly Civic Center.

Ingawanis Adventure Race
Ingawanis Adventure Base will host a 5K Run Saturday, September 11 starting at 7:30am at 2482 Grand Ave. in Waverly.  There will be five age brackets and the cost is $20 per runner before August 27th and $25 after August 27th.  Prizes & medals given to all 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in all age brackets.  T-shirts given to all participants.  Donuts, bagels, bananas & beverages will be available to all participants following the race.  For more information contact Mike Broadston at 319-234-2867 or mbroadst@bsamail.org  or www.winnebagobsa.org
