Waverly Heritage Days
The 2009 Heritage Days celebration will have a pioneer focus in honor of the year's city sesquicentennial celebration.  The July 18 Heritage Days parade will feature seven categories evoking memories of Waverly's past. Vern Oberheu, parade chairman, urges early entry into the 10:30am event.  This year's theme is 150 Years of Memories and entries are due by Monday, July 13.  Entry forms are available at all Waverly banks and the Chamber of Commerce office, or by calling 352-4617. 
The schedule of events at the Bremer County Fairgrounds is as follows:
Friday, July 171:00pm-5:00pm, $1.00 swim at the pool plus games & races;  4:00pm, Heritage Days opens with food and beverage stands;  6:30pm, Hall of Fame - 4H Building with performance by Dixieland Saints;  7:00pm, Hall of Fame Inductees by Cal Corson, Emcee.  This year we celebrate Taylor Physical Therapy and Waverly Child Care & Preschool;  8:00pm-midnight, Whitesidewalls Concert.  Also, the Waverly Cocoa-Cola Baseball Classic starts on Friday and runs through Sunday, ending about 5:30pm. Blood Pressure Screenings
Waverly Health Center Auxiliary volunteer nurses will be offering free blood pressure screenings Saturday, July 18 from noon until 4:00pm at the 4-H building on the fairgrounds as part of Waverly Heritage Days activities.  An informational board will be set up at the screening site and free brochures will be available.  For more information contact Sue Shankland 319-352-2720 or sshank3328@aol.com

Sea Kayaking Apostle Islands
This trip received rave reviews from our 2008 participants. Enjoy the serenity and beauty of the Apostle Islands in Northern Wisconsin. Camp at Little Sand Bay on Lake Superior where shower facilities are available. Paddle into sea caves and hike on remote islands. This is a true sea kayaking experience. Wartburg Community Symphony
Wartburg Community Symphony Orchestra concerts will be held in Neumann Auditorium, Wartburg Blvd. at 2nd Ave. NW in Waverly.  The schedule is as follows:  Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 8:00pm, when the orchestra will accompany the silent film Phantom of the Opera playing the music originally written for the silent film.  Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00pm, a holiday concert with dancers from  Kinetic Energy performing Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Suite and with a narrated performance of The Night Before Christmas.   Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 7:30pm, featuring Jessica Lee, violinist, who won the 2005 Concert Artists Guild International Competition.  Saturday.
